Studio Kimiis, comprised of Daniels Alumni Steven Beites and Christian Joakim, has been selected to design a feature wall for the new Mount Royal University Conservatory and Bella Concert Hall in Calgary. Kimiis' submission, entitled “Machining the Past”, uses open source software to analyze frequency maps in order to generate three-dimensional form. Subtractive fabrication strategies are conceptually inverted to become additive strategies which begin to uncover an elegant simplicity of form.
