Sunday, October 19, 3:00 to 5:00 PM

MAL ARME is the third volume in Victor Coleman's series of Oulipian texts that started with LETTER DROP (2000), continued with MI SING and will conclude with The Occasional Troubadour (2010).

Each volume contains 26 lipograms, lettered A to Z, wherein the A poems have no As, the B poems have no Bs, etc. Inspiration has come from a variety of texts from the past. For this latest in the series, Coleman's fascination with things French has led him to the prose writings of 19th century French poet Stéphane Mallarmé.

Victor Coleman is the author of numerous books of poetry, starting with the 1964 publication of From Erik Satie's Notes to the Music, through CORRECTIONS (1985), LAPSED WASP (1994), and ICON TACT (2006). He was a founding editor of both Coach House Press (in 1965) and Coach House Books (in 1997) and has laboured as a film programmer at Queens University, artistic director of A Space, and co-director and programmer for The Music Gallery, both in Toronto. He currently works as a free-lance editor and a part-time cook at a downtown social service facility.
