17.09.13 - Renovated gallery and offices by Shim-Suttcliffe Architects profiled in Architectural Record

The Architectural Record recently profiled art gallery and art foundation offices designed by Shim-Sutcliffe Architects, the firm co-founded by Associate Professor Brigitte Shim. As reported in the article, renovating the space — located in a 30-storey building in the dense metropolis of Hong Kong — came with a host of challenges.

"We wanted full-height wooden fins [running inside the curtain wall of the main gallery] without any joint lines, and they wouldn't fit into the elevators,” Shim told the Record. “It was amazing—like building a ship in a bottle.”
