01.06.11 - Daniels Students Named Top Winners in Brunswick-College Parkette Design Competition

The results of the Brunswick-College Parkette Design Competition were recently announced and three teams of Daniels students were among the ‘Top Five Winners.’

Canopy Park by Drew Adams (MArch’11) and Mladen Pejic (MArch’11) was the Public Vote's First Choice; Green Weaver by Steve Socha (MArch'12) was the Second Choice. In the Jury Category, The Brunswick Bend by Ya’el Santopinto (MArch’11) and Cleo Buster (MArch’11) was the First Choice.

The Brunswick-College Parkette Design Competition attracted 27 submissions from eight countries. The competition was sponsored by the Harbord Village Residents’ Association in association with the City of Toronto. It sought the ideas of students and professionals of architecture and environmental design, local residents and business people interested in sharing in the re-imagination, re-engineering and re-planting of the Brunswick-College Parkette. The challenge of this competition was the creation of an affordable design that will allow the space to become a place for meeting and relaxation for all, at the junction of one of Toronto’s most elegant and historic residential avenues with one of its most dynamic streets.

All the entries were recently exhibited publicly at Kensington Gardens.
