06.06.12 - Wood Design & Building Magazine interviews Daniels Faculty and features the work of former Gehry Chair
The current issue of Wood Design & Building Magazine has a cover story on the Metropol Parasol, a new architectural landmark in the centre of Seville, Spain, designed by former Daniels Faculty Gehry Chair Juergen Mayer H. Part archeological site, part farmers market, and part elevated plaza with multiple bars and restaurants, the project has been lauded as the world's largest wooden structure.
"The design is a symbol of the city's process of renewal," writes Wood Design & Building magazine. "The project can be perceived as an elastic formation of the city's surface or as a parametric landscape. The surface forms various different elevations and depressions without losing its continuity."
The same issue also featured an article on Acoustic Ceilings and Paneling featuring an interview with Daniels Associate Professor David Lieberman. Writes Julia Teeluck in the article: "[Lieberman] believes acoustics should be a fundamental design principal — not just applied to performance facilities."
