30.05.12 - Bruce Kuwabara is invested as Officer of the Order of Canada
On May 25th, the Govenrnor General of Canada, David Johnston, invested Bruce Kuwabara as an Officer of the Order of Canada.
Kuwabara is well known at U of T, not only an alumnus of the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design, but as the architect for the Rotman School of Management’s expansion project and the UTSC Faculty of Management. The founding partner at Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects has been honoured with an officer appointment for his contributions to the architectural profession, to our built landscape, and for his commitment to professional excellence.
"Bruce Kuwabara has shaped our built landscape in lasting ways. A founding partner of KPMB Architects, he has earned public and critical acclaim for such projects of national significance as Canada's National Ballet School, the Canadian Museum of Nature, the Bell Lightbox for the Toronto International Film Festival and Manitoba Hydro Place. Committed to raising the profile of Canadian architecture, he has taught at the University of Toronto and at Harvard University. Kuwabara is one of nine alumni, three University of Toronto faculty members, and two additional U of T benefactors who have been honoured with Order of Canada appointments this year. Fourteen of the 66 Canadians named to receive one of Canada’s highest civilian honours have ties to the University.
