02.09.09 - Mason White selected for WPA 2.0 international competition
InfraNet Lab / Lateral Office has been selected as a finalist for the WPA 2.0: Working Public Architecture international competition. Their scheme is titled Water Economies / Ecologies and looks at the competing conflicts in the US Southwest of water shortage, agriculture, and rapidly expanding populations. Their research centres on terminal lakes in this region and uses the Salton Sea, among others, as a case study.
A public workshop at cityLAB (http://citylab.aud.ucla.edu/) in Los Angeles takes place September 26 and a public symposium of the finalists on Nov 16 in Washington, DC to the jurors and select policy-makers.
Design / Research Team consisted of: Mason White, Lola Sheppard, Daniel Rabin (MArch 2009), Sandy Wong (March IV), Fei-Ling Tseng (UofT, Geography).
Jury: Stan Allen, Cecil Balmond, Elizabeth Diller, Walter Hood, Thom Mayne, and Marilyn Jordan Taylor.
