Lara Hassani is an artist and architectural designer based in Toronto. She is a Sessional Lecturer at the Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto.

Her teaching practice in studio seeks to re-centre site in the design process, especially as it applies to environmental concerns, community identity, and the ethics of design’s engagement with varying land ownership structures. Her research practice is focused on material flows, especially post-use, taking into consideration local and informal practices of demolition, salvage, recycling, and waste disposal as they interface with greater urban systems.

She is a co-founder of Studio Wombling, a multidisciplinary practice engaged in the practical application—artistic, architectural—of the principles of a circular economy. She is co-founder of Bazaar Toronto, the operational output of a design experiment into the material and organizational infrastructure necessary to collaboratively organize informal networks of local collectors, thrifters, and artists into a self-sustaining formal market and community.
