Kachun Alex Wong

Kachun Alex Wong is a PhD candidate in Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the Daniels Faculty. He has obtained degrees from Columbia University GSAPP and the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He was previously a research and design assistant at the Urban Ecologies Design Lab, HKU. His dissertation project focuses on the informal and rural housing in Hong Kong, including squatters and village-type houses, using both archival sources and social methods. His project is funded by the SSHRC doctoral fellowship 2024-2026.  

He has published with Springer Nature, Society + Space, Journal of Chinese Architecture and Urbanism, and the Hong Kong Institute of Architects Journal (forthcoming). He presented with UIA CPH World Congress Science Track, Society of Architectural Historians, Society of Hong Kong Studies, North American Conference on British Studies (forthcoming) and First Annual Critical Legal Geographies Conference. He is currently a visiting scholar at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
