Matt Arnott, "Aftercare: Burnt Lands Response Hub"

Aftercare: Burnt Lands Response Hub is a design proposal sited in Iroquois Falls, Ontario, where wildfire frequency and intensity have escalated under the pressure of climate change and extractive land-use practices. This project envisions retrofitting an abandoned pulp and paper mill into a multifunctional hub for post-wildfire recovery; recasting a former site of resource extraction as a platform for ecological regeneration and economic transition. Powered by local waste stream inputs and salvage materials, the proposal operates as both a restoration engine and a catalyst for circular economies grounded in place.
