Painting and the Subject – VIS220

This class explores the representation and abstraction through the development of subjects and themes drawn from personal, social, and cultural resources.  Students will experiment with formal and material issues during studio sessions.  Lectures, seminars presentation and talks from Toronto artist will provide opportunities for discussion.

The objective of this course is to educate students in the painting process in relation to representational, abstract, and conceptual painting.  Through research and experimentation, students should be confident in using new techniques to articulate ideas.
