Exam Conflicts and Religious Observances
Daniels students
Complete the Final Examinations Conflict form and submit by March 19, 2026 if:
- Direct Conflict: You have two reviews/exams scheduled on the same day at the same time.
- Three-in-a-Row: You have three exams in consecutive time slots. There are three exam time slots per day: Morning (9 a.m.), afternoon (2 p.m.) and evening (7 p.m.). Some examples of a three-in-a-row conflict would be:
- Exams that are scheduled for 9 am, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on the same day.
- One exam at 7 p.m. followed by exams at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the next day.
- One exam at 2 p.m. followed by another exam at 7 p.m. on the same day and a 9 a.m. exam the next morning. - You have a conflict due to a religious observance.
Other exam conflicts will not be considered, except under extraordinary circumstances. Personal travel is not considered a conflict.
All Students
If you have a scheduling conflict, prior to the deadline noted above:
- Check the exam schedule on ACORN to confirm if you have a conflict. Note any changes to the exam schedule.
- If you have a scheduling conflict and you have not heard from the Office of the Registrar and Student Services about rescheduling by the dates noted above, complete the Final Examinations Conflict Form and send a copy as a PDF attachment from your U of T email account to academicadvising@daniels.utoronto.ca
Requests received after the deadline may not be accommodated. Failure to meet a deadline is not considered a valid reason to defer an exam.
You will be notified by email regarding the specifics of your rescheduled exam(s) in advance of your exam(s). Exams that are rescheduled due to a conflict will be held within the same final exam period whenever possible. Depending on the accommodation needed, this may require exams to be rescheduled to a day/time immediately following a final exam period, however, they will not be rescheduled to the next term.
All Students
- If you are registered with Accessibility Services in the current session and will be writing your examinations through Accommodated Testing Services, you do not need to report Daniels or Arts & Science conflicts.
- Please visit Accommodated Testing Services for deadlines to register for the upcoming assessment period.
- It is the policy of the University of Toronto to arrange reasonable accommodation of the needs of students who observe religious holy days other than those already accommodated by ordinary scheduling and statutory holidays. Students who cannot write a Faculty final examination or review due to religious observances, should contact the Office of the Registrar and Student Services.
- June and December examination periods only: Students who have a conflict between a Faculty final examination and a term test in a Y course, or between term tests in two Y courses, should contact the Department(s) offering the Y course(s) to make alternate arrangements.
