Close the Gap, an international design competition sponsored by d3 and Transportation Alternatives in 2011, invited architects, landscape architects, urban designers, engineers, and students worldwide to broaden the dialogue surrounding alternative solutions for sustainable urban living. The competition focused on the Midtown sector of New York City’s East River Greenway — a critical missing link in Manhattan’s alternative transportation infrastructure.  

The firm North Design Office, founded by Daniels Assistant Professors Peter and Alissa North, placed third for its entry EDGE EFFECT. Winning submissions and special mentions from the competition will be on exhibit from January 17-February 28 in New York City.
