02.10.25 - Jessica Kaknevicius (MFC 2008) recognized by Forest Products Association of Canada

Jessica Kaknevicius, a graduate of the University of Toronto Master of Forest Conservation (MFC) program, has received the national Partnership Award from Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC).

The honour recognizes organizations that have demonstrated exceptional outstanding leadership and teamwork in advancing Canada’s forest sector.

Kaknevicius, chief executive officer of national charity Forests Canada, is being recognized as co-founder of Women in Wood, a volunteer network that connects women that work in, with and for the woods, with over 3,700 members from around the world.

“Ten years ago, likely without realizing it, Lacey [Rose] and Jess started a movement… It’s an honour for us at FPAC to recognize Women in Wood this year for their work supporting not only women in forestry in Canada, but women in forestry around the world,” said Derek Nighbor, president and CEO of FPAC.

“The next generation will continue to grow the important role of women in the forest sector and hopefully through Women in Wood will see the value of supporting other women along the way,” said Kaknevicius.
