Writing Centre

The Daniels Writing Centre is a resource for undergraduate and graduate students across all programs who want to develop their academic writing, research and related skills. The Writing Centre offers consultation-based support for integrating written, spoken and visual communication at any stage of the process, from initial idea development to finishing touches.

Services and Support

Writing Process: assignment interpretation; critical thinking; effective reading; idea-generation; research methods; organizing ideas for essays, presentations, exhibitions, and publications developing a thesis; revision; acknowledging and citing sources and influences.

Writer’s Voice: developing your voice and exploring multiliteracy; conventions and possibilities of writing in the arts and sciences; vocabulary.

Types of Writing: formal analyses; reading responses; artist's statements; research papers; annotated bibliographies; presentations; proposals and applications; portfolio organization and writing.

  • 50-minute in-person appointment: Conversational format, room ESC1019
  • 50-minute online appointment: Synchronous format
  • 50-minute online appointment: Asynchronous format (uploading a document for feedback)
  • 50-minute group (2-3 students) appointment: In-person or synchronous
