Admission Requirements

Ontario high school students

All Ontario High School applicants to the Honours Bachelor of Arts, Architectural Studies and Honours Bachelor of Arts, Visual Studies programs are required to apply through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) 101 Application, submit the required documents, and complete the One Idea Supplementary application by the deadlines listed below. 

To be considered for admission to the Daniels Faculty, applicants must:

1. Be eligible to receive, or have already received, the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or its equivalent.
2. Present six senior high school credits (Grade 12 U/M/D courses) with an average in the high-80s.

  • a. One of these credits must be English (ENG4U)
  • b. The "out of school" component of Grade 12U/M co-op courses will not be accepted for admission purposes.

3. Complete the online One Idea supplementary application.
4. Provide proof of English facility if required.

If you do not meet the English Language Requirements at the time of admission or you are worried that your test score will not meet our minimum requirements, you may want to consider applying for the International Foundation Program (IFP).

In order to qualify for the housing guarantee, you must indicate your interest in residence on the housing  StarRez portal website by March 31, 2023.

Canadian high school students

International students

(High School, University, or College)

The application for the Honours Bachelor of Arts, Architectural Studies and Honours Bachelor of Arts, Visual Studies programs for International students can be submitted in one of two ways:

Prospective international applicants who wish to apply to other Ontario universities in addition to the University of Toronto should use the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) 105 Application. Applicants who only wish to apply to the University of Toronto and no other Ontario university may use the University of Toronto International Application.

All International High School, University, or College applicants are required to apply through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) 105 Application OR the University of Toronto International Application, submit all required documents, and complete the One Idea Supplementary application by the deadlines listed below.

University of Toronto students

University of Toronto students must apply to the Daniels Faculty by completing the U of T Internal Application, submit all required documents, and complete the One Idea Supplementary application by the deadlines listed below.

Students in the Faculty of Arts & Science (St. George):

Transfer students from the Faculty of Arts & Science (St. George) are eligible to have up to 10.0 Full Course Equivalents (FCE) retained, the maximum number of completed credits allowed upon admission. All grades obtained for these retained credits will be included in the Daniels Faculty academic record with the retained credits, and Daniels Faculty rules and regulations will apply. All 300+ level courses completed in the Faculty of Arts & Science may apply to the Daniels Faculty degree requirement  of at least 6.0 FCE at the 300+ level. A maximum of 6.0 FCE at the 100-level may be used for degree credit in the Daniels Faculty.

Any courses declared credit/no credit (CR/NCR) or any course in from which a student has Late Withdrawn (LWD) in the Faculty of Arts & Science will count toward the maximum allowable CR/NCR and LWD options in the Daniels Faculty.

Transfer students from the Faculty of Arts & Science may retain their Faculty of Arts & Science program(s) of study but must complete at least ten FCE from Daniels and complete at least one Daniels program of study in either Architectural Studies or Visual Studies. Students who have completed more than 10.0 FCE in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the time of application will be considered for admission, but must complete at least ten FCE from Daniels and complete at least one Daniels program of study in Architectural Studies or Visual Studies. 

Successful applicants to the Daniels Faculty from the Faculty of Arts & Science will have all of their Faculty of Arts & Science credits retained, up to the maximum of 10.0 FCE allowed upon admission. For more information, visit our transfer credits page.

Students at UTM or at UTSC:

Transfer students from the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) and the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) are eligible for up to 10.0 Full Course Equivalents (FCE) in transfer credits, the maximum number of credits allowed upon admission. Any credits of the 10.0 FCE that were completed in the Faculty of Arts & Science (St. George) will be retained; all grades obtained for these retained credits will be included in the Daniels Faculty academic record with the retained credits, and Daniels Faculty rules and regulations will apply. All 300+ level retained credits may apply to the minimum degree requirement of at least 6.0 FCE at the 300+ level; a maximum of 1.0 FCE in transfer credits at the 300+ level may be used to meet degree requirements. A maximum of 6.0 FCE at the 100-level may be used for degree credit in the Daniels Faculty.

Any course taken in the Faculty of Arts & Science by a transfer student from UTM or UTSC that was declared credit/no credit (CR/NCR) or from which a transfer student from UTM or UTSC has Late Withdrawn (LWD) will count toward the maximum allowable CR/NCR and LWD options in the Daniels Faculty.

Transfer students from UTM and UTSC may not retain their UTM or UTSC programs of study (subject POSts) upon admission to the Daniels Faculty. Only Daniels and Faculty of Arts & Science programs of study may be used to complete the Daniels Faculty degree requirements; Daniels students must complete at least ten FCE from Daniels and must complete at least one Daniels program of study in either Architecture (for the Honours Bachelor of Arts, Architectural Studies) or Visual Studies (for the Honours Bachelor of Arts, Visual Studies). Successful applicants to the Daniels Faculty from UTM or UTSC will have all of their credits transferred where appropriate, and any courses completed in the Faculty of Arts & Science retained, to the maximum of 10.0 FCE allowed upon admission. For more information, visit our transfer credits page.

Transfer Students from Other University of Toronto Divisions

Up to a maximum of 10.0 Full Course Equivalents (FCE) may be granted as transfer credits to students who have completed up to two years of study in University of Toronto divisions other than the Faculty of Arts & Science (St. George), UTM, and UTSC. Any credits that were completed in the Faculty of Arts & Science will be retained; all grades obtained for these retained credits will be included in the Daniels Faculty academic record with the retained credits, and Daniels Faculty rules and regulations will apply. A maximum of 6.0 FCE at the 100-level, and a maximum of 1.0 FCE in transfer credits at the 300+ level, may be used for degree credit in the Daniels faculty. Transfer students from other U of T divisions must complete at least ten FCE from Daniels and complete at least one Daniels program of study in Architectural Studies or Visual Studies. If you are admitted to the Daniels Faculty from an undergraduate division at U of T other than FAS, UTM, or UTSC, you may be eligible for transfer credit. 

In order to be assessed for transfer credit, you are required to Apply for a Transfer Credit Assessment after admission to the Daniels Faculty.

Canadian University or College students

External Transfer Applicants: 

All Canadian University or College applicants to the Honours Bachelor of Arts, Architectural Studies and Honours Bachelor of Arts, Visual Studies programs (excluding UofT students) are required to apply through the Ontario University Application Centre (OUAC) 105 Application, submit all required documents, and complete the One Idea Supplementary application by the deadlines listed below.
